Scam Alert: Lacoste Direct Ads from Jino Agency

Obviously, you guys already know that I make money online and from my blogs through advertisements. From time to time, I get direct advertisers contacting me about placing banner or text link ads on my blogs with a fee we have agreed on. And just yesterday, I got another email which raised suspicions that it could all just be a scam. It’s from a representative of a certain Jino Agency who claims the ad is for Lacoste. Her name’s Killian Blanchard. Here’s a screenshot of the email:

It made me suspicious because, first off, it’s for our food blog. Why would Lacoste be interested in placing an advertisement on a blog that’s completely unrelated to fashion? I continued on to see what will happen, already wary that it’s another one of those phishing scams. They said they have different ad banner sizes and would like to know the rates we offer for each.

By this time, I already checked their site – www.jinoagency.com.  I’m a web designer so I know that their site was pretty easy to come up with.

The site’s language is in French so I had no idea what the contents were. I was hoping to see a list of accounts or brands they handle, but found none. I was hoping to translate their site to English using Chrome’s integrated translate feature, but it wasn’t an option.

So, I ended up using Yahoo! Babel Fish which worked like a charm. The translation may not be perfect, but it’s obvious that their contents don’t sound like they come from an actual PR or advertising company.

I continued on to send them my rates to see if they would accept it. The thing is, I gave them very high ad monthly rates (scroll down for the screenshot of how much they’re willing to pay for a month!). Surprisingly, they liked my prices. So, they continued on sending me instructions on how to publish the advertisement.

As it turns out, I need to login to their site with the info they provided and then install a plugin on our blog. The only time I installed a plugin was for a reputable third party ad network and I only have it up and running on THIS blog. I’m just not comfortable installing any script or plugin on any of my high traffic blogs, most especially our food blog.

What I did next was to search Google for any post about them. I only found one link, but it was filled with all the necessary information that would conclude it was indeed a scam – Devious Scam Aimed at Bloggers.

The author and a couple of the comment posters on this certain blog post were very suspicious too of this ad placement. Having been very careful with putting malicious scripts on my blogs, I always make sure to check the code of any plug-in I install on my WordPress blogs and I do my research first. This time, I guess it more than paid off. And I know how important it is for me to share this to everyone just in case they got the same email and were hoping to earn a decent amount of money from these scammers.

Apparently, based on the comments, they won’t pay you afterwards. The codes may seem harmless now, but malicious plugins can give access to your WordPress blog or site to unauthorized people. So, you have to be VERY careful with what plugins you install.

Here’s a screenshot of the site they asked me to log into:

And the instructions on how to install the plugin:

Did they contact you too? If yes, please share your experience. And please, be careful. There are a lot of online scammers out there now and they get more creative everytime.

I’ll be posting more about dealing with direct advertisers here next time. Stay tuned!

UPDATE: A fellow blogger mentioned about Mana Agency, a company one of the comment posters on the blog post I mentioned earlier revealing this as a scam too. Well, look at their website… doesn’t it look so fricking familiar?

Make Money Online with Nuffnang (Philippines)

Update: As of October 2012, I have officially removed all Nuffnang ads on my blogs. After further analysis, I realized that it’s not worth it to keep their ads since their system, in my opinion and in all honesty, is too subjective. So, PLEASE TAKE NOTE that the blog post below was my past review of Nuffnang. I don’t recommend them anymore as one of my top online money-making site. Make sure you also read the comments.

InfoLinks – How to Turn Off or Control the In-Text Ads

I posted a few days ago about how you can make money online with InfoLinks. It’s a great way to monetize your blog, especially when you don’t have any other third party ads running on your blog.

Some people might be a bit skeptical or are still thinking twice about implementing InfoLinks on their blogs because they don’t like the idea of in-text links that are not within their control. This may also be a big issue for bloggers who make money online through paid posts or reviews because they fear that they won’t receive paid opps anymore if their blogs contain in-text links.

Well, you might not know it, but, you can actually control InfoLinks ads within your posts. You can turn on and off the InfoLinks in-text ads very easily. How? Read on.

To turn off InfoLinks or to not see any highlighted links within an area of your blog, simply add the following tag BEFORE that area:

Turn Off InfoLinks Ads - PinayOnlineMoneyMaker.net

If, within the post where you inserted the InfoLinks Off tag, you want to turn on InfoLinks again, then, you only have to insert this tag:

Turn On InfoLinks Ads - PinayOnlineMoneyMaker.net

I’m actually using these tags on this post. If you check the first 2 paragraphs, there are no highlighted text links or InfoLinks ads. The only links you’ll see there are my internal links. But, all the paragraphs after that is showing InfoLinks ads. Nice, huh?

Here’s an example to better explain how these tags work:

Example of how to control InfoLinks Ads - PinayOnlineMoneyMaker.net

IMPORTANT NOTE: You have to insert these tags on SOURCE or HTML view.

Side Note: If you don’t want ANY InfoLinks in-text ads on your blog posts (for paid reviews, etc), there’s no need to put in the Infolinks ON tag. You only insert the InfoLinks OFF tag at the very beginning of your post.

So, if you still haven’t implemented InfoLinks yet on your blogs so you can earn money online with it, too, then, I hope this post will change your mind.

Google Adsense - Make money online through contextual advertising on your blog or website - PinayOnlineMoneyMaker.net

Did you notice that some of your Google Adsense earnings disappeared the past few days?! Wondering what happened to your Google Adsense earnings?!

When you checked and used the filter "Since Last Payment" under the Adsense Earnings Report tab, you probably might have noticed that a small or huge amount of your Google Adsense earnings got lost. Wondering why the sudden drop on your Google Adsense earnings?!

Well, you’re not alone. I happened to notice I lost about $12.00 of Google Adsense earnings when I checked today. Waahh!! I’ve seen a lot of other bloggers complain about this. Some of them even panicked because they lost about $50.00 of Google Adsense earnings.

Don’t be alarmed, though. I believe it’s just a fluke or a bug. Why? Well, when I checked the overall report or when I clicked on the View Payment History page, my earnings are intact. I also tried checking my monthly earnings for August and September through the Advanced Reports tab and the results were accurate.

TIP: Make it a habit to take a screenshot of your Google Adsense earnings, just in case you need to contact their Support team about discrepancies with your account.

Project Wonderful Payment Proof of $10.65 – June 18, 2010

Project Wonderful - Make money online by selling advertising space on your blog or website - PinayOnlineMoneyMaker.net

This is my FIRST payment proof from Project Wonderful. I started putting their ad box on my main blog – Just Another Pixel – months ago and I’m pretty happy with my earnings with them. I don’t get a lot of people advertising on them, probably because they’re not placed above the fold, which I hope to improve once I re-design that blog’s layout.

If you’re not yet familiar with Project Wonderful, they’re an ad network, much like Entrecard, but, advertisers need to pay actual money for a spot on your ad space. If you have a lot of requests for advertising for your ad box, the advertisers would need to bid for that spot and whoever bids the highest wins, of course. So, make sure you set your Project Wonderful ad box space prices right basing on how much traffic you get.

I will write a full review of Project Wonderful soon. Keep posted for that.

Here’s my payment proof from Project Wonderful:

Project Wonderful - My first Payment Proof of $10.65 - June 18 2010(click to zoom)

I requested this on the same day, June 18th, and it was sent to my Paypal account INSTANTLY. Project Wonderful‘s minimum for payout is $10.00. Take note, though, that they charge you $1.00 per withdrawal. I know, that’s a bit high, but, it’ll actually save you a lot of money if you’re earning a lot from your blog. Just read their explanation here as to why Project Wonderful charges $1.00 per withdrawal.

I actually withdrew $11.65, and they deducted $1.00 from me. So, I suggest you withdraw your funds when you reach a way higher amount. That way, you can really save from withdrawal fees.

Again, stay tuned for my full review of Project Wonderful‘s service. To join, click on the banner below.
