How to Setup and Make Money Online with InfoLinks
How to Make Money Online with InfoLinks
One of the many ways I make money online nowadays is through InfoLinks, especially with this blog, Pinay Online Money Maker, because I don’t monetize from the traffic this blog gets. Well, except for the referrals I get, InfoLinks is the main source of income on this blog.
If you’re not yet familiar with InfoLinks, they offer a pay per click in-text contextual advertising and the highest revenue share to bloggers or website owners. What happens is once you’ve integrated InfoLinks to your blog or website, they’ll insert text links within your content. Below are some screenshots of the InfoLinks hyperlinks you’ve probably seen on this blog:

When a visitor hovers or places their mouse on top of the InfoLinks hyperlinks, a floating informational bubble / window will open. If the viewer clicks, they’ll be directed to the advertiser’s landing page and you earn revenue. If the viewer moves their mouse away from the hyperlink, the bubble will disappear.

If you ask me, how InfoLinks work is not at all obtrusive so I don’t think it’ll affect your readers’ experience, especially when they’re just reading your contents. I also set it up in a way that the look of the InfoLinks hyperlinks are different to my blog’s actual links. I’ll be discussing how to do it later on this post so read on.
At the same time as not being obtrusive, InfoLinks is also a great way for you to monetize your blog or your contents because, like in my experience, the ads that show up on my InfoLinks hyperlinks are very relevant to my contents. So, the possibility of a visitor clicking on the ads is way higher, most especially because the links appear within your posts. Your visitors will have a tendency to get interested by the InfoLinks hyperlinks and click on the related ads.
Another thing that I love about InfoLinks is how easy it is to set it up. Let me show you how to do it.
How to Get Started with InfoLinks
Once you’ve signed up with InfoLinks, you will be prompted for details about your blog / website. Then, you must wait for your account to be approved. Once approved, you can add your other websites or blogs where you also want to have InfoLinks implemented / integrated.
Again, you have to wait for the approval. So far, I’ve got 2 WordPress blogs approved for InfoLinks. Once approved, on to setting it up.
How to Setup InfoLinks for WordPress Blogs
Setting up InfoLinks for your WordPress blog may be the easiest thing you’d do. Why? Because InfoLinks has their own WordPress plugin that you can install and activate easily so you can get it working immediately. All you have to do is go the Add New Plugin page on your WordPress admin. Then, search for InfoLinks.
Once you have activated it, you can click on the Infolinks Settings under the Settings menu on the left on your WordPress admin page. You can configure InfoLinks from there. Here’s a screenshot of the settings page:
You can exclude pages where you don’t want InfoLinks hyperlinks to appear. For instance, I don’t want any InfoLinks to be applied on my About Me page. So, I entered the page ID 2.
To complete the setup, all you have to do is enter your Publisher ID and your blog’s Website ID. You can get these information from the My Website(s) section on your InfoLinks account page.
Where to find your InfoLinks Publisher ID and Website ID
That’s it for WordPress blogs! Easy, right?!
How to Setup InfoLinks for Blogger Blogs
It’s also easy to setup InfoLinks on your Blogger hosted blogs. You can use the 1-minute Integration guide. Here’s a screenshot of the script that you can manually add to your Blogger blog:
OR, you can simply click on the Add Infolinks to your Blogger button on that same page. This will lead you to the Blogger setup page shown below:
Very easy, right? If you are using Joomla or Drupal, Infolinks supports that, too! Just visit the Resources page for more information.
How to Customize InfoLinks Look and Feel
Another thing that I like about InfoLinks is how you can customize the look and feel of the InfoLinks hyperlinks. To do this, just go to the Advanced Integration Wizard page.
There are numerous things you can change to personalize or customize how the hyperlinks appear on your posts. Some bloggers prefer to make the InfoLinks look like regular hyperlinks. I prefer to make them look different from my regular links (usually, internal links). Here are some of the settings you can change:
#1: Change the highlight color of the InfoLinks hyperlinks.
You can choose the colors of the InfoLinks hyperlinks. You can pick from the popup palette or simply enter the 6-character Hex code of the color you want. You can see how it looks on the preview on the right.
#2: Change the highlight color of the InfoLinks hyperlinks.
You can select the style of the underline of your Infolinks hyperlinks. There are 2 options: Dotted and Double. You can also choose to add an icon to the In-Text links. I have this option disabled.
#3: Limit the Highlighted Links per Page.
If you don’t want too many InfoLinks hyperlinks to show up on your blog posts, then, you can change this limit. However, if you want to maximize your earnings from InfoLinks, set it to the maximum of 12 links.
#4: Change your Content Category.
Now, this one for me is the most important setting. You have to make sure that you select the right category where your blog belongs to. That way, you would get the most relevant ads to your contents.
#5: Apply settings to all your websites.
If you want the same configuration on all your websites, Infolinks makes it easy for you. All you have to do is check the box and click on Save.
As you can see, it’s VERY easy to setup InfoLinks on your blog. And, it’s also very easy to make money online with InfoLinks. They even have a new way for you to make money online – through InfoLinks Related Tags, which I will discuss further on my next post. An example of this is that row of links on top of this paragraph. All you need to do is insert it anywhere you want within your posts using the code below:
<input type="hidden" name="IL_RELATED_TAGS" value="1"/>
Tips in Using InfoLinks to Maximize Your Earnings
Because InfoLinks converts some of the words / phrases within your content to hyperlinks, this could bring positive or negative results to your blog’s traffic. So, you have to take them all into serious consideration before you setup your blog for InfoLinks. Read on for some tips on how to use InfoLinks and maximize your earnings.
- Using InfoLinks may lead to less traffic or readers because of the related websites that might contain better content. Yes, this may happen if your contents are not of good quality. The only trick to avoid this is to maintain your contents’ quality and to keep your readers engaged.
- You may turn off some of your readers with the in-text ads or too many underlined/hyperlinks on your posts. Yes, this may happen because I’ve experienced this myself. I mean, I’ve been a reader who got turned off because of too many ads or in-text links. But, I also take into consideration the theme of the blog I’m reading.
The option to change the limit of allowed InfoLinks hyperlinks will do the trick to prevent this from happening. Some set it to a limit of only 6 links, but, it’s all up to you. If you feel like your post or blog looks cluttered with all the in-text links, then, by all means, decrease the allowed links. - In using InfoLinks Related Tags, make sure you insert them somewhere that is easy to see and click on. For instance, you can place it after the jump or when viewers click on Read More, just like what I did on this post.
- Make the InfoLinks hyperlinks look like your regular links. This will definitely increase the clicks on the hyperlinks. Just be careful with this, though, because this may result to my first point – losing traffic or readers.
Withdrawing Earnings from InfoLinks
- The minimum amount for payments in InfoLinks is $50.00.
- They pay every month. Once you have reached the minimum, you have to wait for 45 days for processing before you can receive your payment.
- You can choose to be paid through the following methods:
- Paypal – I chose this option because I prefer my earnings to be in one place. No fees for this payment method.
- Bank Wire – Payments through this method is subject to bank fees of up to $25.00. I suggest you stick with Paypal.
- ACH – For US bank accounts only.
- InfoLinks Prepaid Mastercard (Powered by Payoneer) – If you choose this option, you will receive an actual card from Payoneer. It may take 10 days for US residents and up to 25 days for international members to receive the card.
The card is a DEBIT card so you can use it to withdraw money at an ATM or use it directly for purchases (free). However, take note that you will be charged by Payoneer for maintenance, etc. - Make sure you submit the appropriate tax form or declare your US activities so you can receive your payments on time. For more info, check the FAQs.
Stay tuned for my payment proofs from InfoLinks. If you’re already using it on your blog, let me know about your experience with InfoLinks at the comment section.
