Verify Your Paypal Account using SmartMoney
For you to start earning money online, you at least need a verified Paypal account so you would be eligible to get paid by all online money-making programs that pay through Paypal. However, to verify your account with Paypal, you either need a credit card or a debit card. But, I found out through a friend that Filipinos can now actually verify their Paypal account using SmartMoney.
This is great news for Pinoys like me who are making money online and are using Paypal as their main payment processor. Plus, getting your own SmartMoney card is very easy since you won't have to worry about submitting any financial documents or annual fees, unlike when you apply for a credit card.
NOTE: SmartMoney CANNOT be used to withdraw your Paypal funds. So, I highly recommend you get a Unionbank EON card because you can use it for verifying and for withdrawals.
Now, let me show you how you can verify your Paypal account with SmartMoney. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message, ok?
Get your own SmartMoney account/card.
This is only open to Smart subscribers, obviously. First of all, make sure you check with Smart helpdesk/customer service if your Smart SIM can be used for SmartMoney. I've heard from other Smart subscribers that some older SIMs and even new ones need to be upgraded before they can use SmartMoney.
You can get a SmartMoney account and card through any Smart Wireless Center OR you can apply online by filling up this online application form and just follow the instructions. You need Php 30.00 for the processing fee & the card, PLUS at least Php 200.00 to load on your SmartMoney account, which would be used when you start verifying your Paypal account. You'd get it back, don't worry.
You must be aged 12 years or older to be eligible for a SmartMoney account. Also, you need to submit a photocopy of a valid ID when you go to the Smart Wireless Center for the application.
If you applied through a Smart Wireless Center, you can choose if you would like to receive the card through snail mail or if you'd want to just claim it through any Smart Wireless center you prefer.
If you applied online, you will receive a call from a Smart rep informing you that your card is ready for pickup and just advise them where you'd want to pickup the card. When you go pick up the card, that's when you'll pay the Php 30.00 processing fee.
After receiving your card, make sure you activate it using the Smart menu on your phone.
Very convenient, eh? Now, remember that you need to deposit money to your SmartMoney account before you can use it to verify your Paypal account because you'll be charged at least $3.00 for linking your SmartMoney account to Paypal and verifying your Paypal account. Don't worry, though, because you'll get back the $1.95 in 2-5 days. So, just load your SmartMoney card at the Smart Wireless center or from loading centers that sell SmartMoney balance. I suggest you load at least Php 200.00.
How to Activate your Smart Money?
Option 1: Key-word Based
i. Type in MONEY and Send it to 343
ii. Subscriber will receive a prompt to enter desired W-PIN.
iii. Re-enter W-PIN and Press OK.
iv. Choose ‘Get Account’ press OK
v. Subscriber will receive a confirmation message with his Smart Money Account.
vi. Subscriber will receive a confirmation message that W-PIN has been set and Menu will be
updated.Option 2: Menu Based
i. Go to SMART MENU and select SMART MONEY
ii. Choose any transaction.
iii. Subscriber will receive a prompt to enter desired W-PIN.
iv. Re-enter W-PIN and Press OK.
v. Choose ‘Get Account’ press OK
vi. Subscriber will receive a confirmation message with his Smart Money Account.
vii. Subscriber will receive a confirmation message that W-PIN has been set and Menu will be
updated.

You have to make sure you follow the steps below to prevent any problems when you link your SmartMoney account to your Paypal account:
To do this, go to your Smart menu and open SmartMoney. There should be "Internet Txns" menu option there. If you don't see it anywhere, you can call SmartMoney helpdesk and request for that menu to be activated OR text "internet" (without the quotes) and send to 343. This should activate the Internet Txns menu on your Smart menu.
If Internet Txns is already available, select that and choose Unlock and pick your SmartMoney card name. You'll be asked to enter your PIN. Wait for the confirmation that Internet transactions are unlocked then proceed to the next step.

Login to Paypal and click on the Get Verified link on the main page of your account.
Fill up all the information on the next page using your SmartMoney card number, expiration date, etc.
Once you've unlocked it, go back to your Paypal account page and enter the confirmation code that you received. You should receive a confirmation message that your Paypal account has been verified.
That's it! Easy, right? Now, you have a verified Paypal account.

Did you activate internet transactions (internet txns) on your Smart menu? And do you have at least Php 150 in your SmartMoney account? If you answered yes to all of that, you should've received it immediately or within 1-2 days. My friend got hers after a day.

You can use your debit card to transfer funds sa Paypal. All you need to do is link it. Any bank, pwede. Inquire ka kung how much ang charge nila. I'll post a guide here with the bank codes para you can link your bank account to Paypal.

hi poh meron na poh akong smart money card then itry ko sana sya sa isang atm machine ng bdo kung pwede na syang gamitin pero ang lumabas poh "contact your center" parang ganun poh..like ko lan to know kung ano ginawa nyo after nyo nakuha yung card thnks poh:)

@ first question:
you have to activate your smartmoney acct using your smart sim. also, if you're trying to verify your paypal acct using smartmoney, you should have at least $1.95 on it.

kelangan me laman muna yung smartmoney mo before you can verify your paypal account. after you've verified it, yes, you can go ahead and use it for online transactions.

Helow Nabasa ko to blog mo January 29, 2010. nasiyahan naman ako kasi may pera ako sa paypal as my award in designing, (kunti lang pero ok na din) Ngayon ang problema ko ay hindi verified ang paypal ko, at hindi ko ito ma widraw kasi BDO ang bank account ko, try ko ang smart money pero 1 week pa makuha ang card, Now I'm asking in advanced, kung mayrun na akong smart money card, at maverify ko ang paypal ko,, forever na bang verify ang paypal ko? or verify lang ito within 24 hours or more.???????? please help me and advice me what i need to do. and please advice me, may nag advice sa akin Union bank daw using eon card, pero malayo ang union bank sa amin. malaki pamasahi...please help, thank you in advance, hope you help me, God bless.!

Verified na sya forever once you succeed in the verification process.
If you already have a BDO account, you can withdraw your money to BDO. Link mo lang yung account mo using BDO's bank code 010530667 (taken from here) para wala na hassle na mag-Unionbank EON ka pa. However, mas malaki ang charges ng BDO for Paypal transfers. I believe around Php 200 sya. Call your bank to confirm.
For the turnaround time, as soon as you get the EXP use #, okay na agad yun. Usually, within a week nga. But, it could be earlier.

hi poh na activate ko na poh yung smart money card ko sa smart sim ko pero poh nung nag deposit me sa smart center at naka receive ng text from smart na may dineposit ako tapos nung chineck ko yung balance sa BDO atm ang sabi parang trasaction failed pdin sya cnasabi na parang contact your local network parang ganun
dba poh connected ang bdo at smart? bakit ayaw ma check yung balance or mag withdraw sa ATM ng bdo? thnks

i can't link my smart money card it always says
"This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card."

Hello! Ask ko lang if its possible to receive payments through a paypal acct that is not yet verified? Still waiting for EON card yun may ari ng acct.

If you can't link your Smartmoney card:
- is it already activated? If you just got the card, you have to activate it using your smart sim. check the instructions on this post.
- make sure you have enabled or unlocked internet trxns on your smart sim. instructions are also here on this post.
if you've followed all that and it still doesn't work, post here.
yes, you can receive payments even though your paypal acct is not yet verified. you can even send money but there's a limit of $500. you can't use unverified paypal accounts when purchasing online because most online stores require a verified account.

UU MAY BDO ACCOUNT AKO AT NI LINK KO NA NGAYON SA PAYPAL ,...AND NEED TO CONFIRM PA WITHIN 3 DAYS, AT TINGNAN KO RAW ANG BANK ACCOUNT KO PARA KUNIN ANG 2 SMALL DEPOSIT NG PAYPAL, ang problema ko, na widraw ko na lahat pera ko sa bdo, I think there is Php 180.00 na natira, may posibilidad pa bang ma verify ang paypal ko?

May China Bank Smart Money ako. Smart Money account number ko starts with 589558. Pwede po ba 'yan sa PayPal? How about sa AlertPay?

Aw ganun? How come walang expiry if the SmartMoney card is like a debit card? Have you tried calling their customer service? Para sana you don't have to apply for another card. Pero Unionbank EON din pinaka-okay gamitin for withdrawals eh. Magastos lang nga pang-verify. Do you have a Chinabank account?

Mhine: unfortunately, di mo pwede gamitin yung Smartmoney. I suggest you use Unionbank EON na lang or if you have other bank accounts. YOu need a bank account to withdraw funds from Paypal. Smartmoney can only be used to verify your account.

I spent 1 thousand pesos and a month to have a working smart money... but eventually... I end up nothing... YOU CANT USE SMART MONEY TO DO SUCH ONLINE TRANSACTIONS... may pa unlock unlock p sila... chuva...

You can use SmartMoney on online shops or websites that accept it or accepts Mastercard. It's a debit card. The reason it might not be working for you is because you weren't able to unlock internet transactions properly.
Also, if you're using it to withdraw your Paypal funds, you can't. YOu can only use it to verify your account.
